Ecommerce Shopping guide

Ecommerce shipping is something that’s more than just good delivery and whatnot, it’s the leg that you need to actually get ahead of your competitors, and we’re going to deep dive into what exactly you need so that customers love it, and you’re saving money too!

What Ecommerce Shipping is

This is basically the transporting of product from point A to the customer, point B.  with the correct shipping partners, this can save you money, and be as fast as some of the giants in ecommerce. The process of this basically isn’t just shipping the item out, it’s a bit more in-depth than that.

It begins as follows:

  • You receive the order and ensure the items are in stock

  • You verify the order to ensure that it’s accurate

  • You fulfill the order so that it’s ready for shipping

This is something that’s super important for many reasons. For starters, competition is huge now. Plus, with new supply chain and labor issues, and freight and port congestion, along with other problems, this can cost you a lot, and people are looking for alternatives. Lots of attention is lost the moment someone swipes it, so it offers more personalized purchases. There are so many ways to do this, and we’ll go over the popular ways, and what people are using.

Types of Shipping

Not everyone uses the same shipping as the other business near them. It’s important to try to make it as fast and as affordable as you can. There is 2 day shipping which is something that a lot of people have started to use, and right now, it’s a bit hard for smaller businesses to take advantage of this, but some shipping partners do offer incentives to help you get this type of shipping

Same-day is usually used for perishables, but some people also do get this for that type of shipping if they need it immediately, and if they can pay more. Overnight is one where you get it the next business day, and it’s one that some ecommerce brands will use in order to stand apart from the crowd.

Expeditated shipping is a shipping method that’s faster than the standard, and usually, this depends on the type of item bought.  It can also help with cart abandonment, and get it to the customer super-fast, something that a lot of brands struggle with. Then there is international shipping, which is something to consider for international audiences. You want something that’s seamless, but also won’t break the bank in terms of price. Plus, you’ll also have to factor in other problems, such as customs and tariffs and whatnot.

Eco friendly shipping is a newer one, where people will use the most eco-friendly shipping options.  Recyclable and decomposing boxes and other packaging, mailer bags that can be compostable, and eco friendly packaging peanuts are becoming quite possible. Some of these may also offer the most efficient method to deliver to customers in order to reduce the emissions that are provided.

You also do have hybrid and freight shipping, which are of course, less common but some people may use one of these for their packaging.

The best way to choose which one is right for you is based on the shipping prices that are out there, and what you’re willing to pay. A premium brand may want to spend a little more for faster shipping, as their customers are fine with that.

Regardless, the shipping that you choose does matter so make sure that you factor all of this in then choosing the shipping service.
