Flat Packed Innovation to Give Packaging Origami Assembly

Flat-packed solutions are in demand for a few reasons. They’re space savers for starters. A lot easier to put away and have organized in a more comprehensible, understandable environment, especially when compared to boxes. They also lower the costs of shipping for a lot of retailers, which again, saves you money and improves business. A lot of people are going to love that they don’t have to pay as much, and you as well get to have better profits.

It also reduces storage costs. Storage costs are going up, and with flat packs, you can put it all in one specific spot, making it easier for you to offer better protection for such items. Flat-pack is now the name of the game, and going forward they’re evolving into something special: origami designs.

Origami-Inspired Structural Design

The new, exciting way that this type of packaging’s starting to pop off is through origami design.

Folds are used to assemble everything together.   There are also ways to manipulate the paper in order to create a locking mechanism.

There's also tension-based strength protocols which are used to monitor how much tension is used, and the strength that’s there. Again, with these types of origami-inspired designs, offering paper and a flat sort of look improves the packaging experience, and being able to put it all together like origami is all a naturel, forward-thinking sort of experience that can truly shine.

Self-Forming Boxes and Mailers

Some companies are taking this to the next level with self-forming boxes and mailers.

These are items that form without needing glue or tape, forming right around the package to create a unique type of packaging. Though it might not work for all items, for smaller trinkets and other such goodies, you’ll definitely want to consider this, especially if you’re looking to tape and put together these items, in order to make it something amazing.

The Challenges of Engineered Foldable Packaging

There's a lot of challenges that come with foldable packaging.

The first is material memory.   you want to make sure that the packaging is remembered, and the material holds that design. If you are not able to make the packaging hold it, remembering how it’s folded together, it can be a bit of a problem, especially if the item has specific dimensions and requires you to put it together correctly.

The other one, is the precision of scoring. Scoring the items is important, and being accurate with it improves the packaging. If they are not accurate, they won’t line up, which further enhances the problems of this.

Overall though, flat-packed items and those that are designed to fold and grow like origami are now becoming the norm for a lot of companies. Being able to make your packaging come together, building it in order to make it stand out is becoming all the more popular.

Creative Branding in the Partners

Did you know that some brands are getting even more unique and creative with their actions?

Some are incorporating some surprise logos, put on the interior of the packaging. Different messages, such as thanking the customer or even encouraging a review are also being used.

That way, when a customer takes it apart, they’re getting a unique, exciting design that will in turn make this all the more special.

If you’re looking to make your packaging stand out, and truly make it something that customers will remember, consider using origami designs. They offer a simple, sustainable solution for a lot of people, and it can be a good way for you to make your packaging truly shine.
